Hello! My name is Crystal Patti and I am honored to be a second grade teacher here at West Wing School! I have taught here since our grand opening back in 2005. This is my sixth year of teaching and my fourth year of working with second graders. Prior to teaching second grade, I taught first grade for two years.
My interest in education has been life long! I still recall those days when I turned my home into a classroom and taught my childhood friends the world of reading, writing, and arithmetic. My first job as a certified child care provider introduced me to the wonderment of taking classes to educate and enrich children's lives. In the Fall of 1991, I took a serious look at turning my heart's desire into a career and I enrolled part-time at Paradise Valley Community College.
Shortly after, I transferred to Glendale Community College and I continued my education while raising my own children. In May of 2000, I earned my first degree with an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Teaching. That summer, I also received a Child Development Associate with a Preschool Endorsement through the National Credentialing Program.
In the fall of 1994, I began working as an paraprofessional in the Deer Valley Unified School District. For the next eight years, I earned valuable experience by working with children, parents, educators and administrators in the school setting while completing my teaching degree.
My proud moment finally arrived when I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Arizona State University West in 2003. In July 2007, I completed my Master's Degree with a Reading Endorsement through Northern Arizona University.
In addition to my teaching career, I have a fabulous husband and we've been married for 27 years. We have three wonderful children, as well. Our oldest son is a Motorcycle Mechanic and our middle son is a firefighter for the City of Phoenix. Our youngest daughter is currently going to college. My husband also works for the Deer Valley School District and has been with them for the last thirteen years.
In addition to my human family, I am the proud owner of a Maltese dog named Diamond (who truly believes he is human) and a rabbit named Velvet. They make a great pair and I love spending time with them. Although teaching is my passion, in my spare time I also enjoy traveling, reading, and scrapbooking.
